The story begins in ancient Akkad, 5,000 years ago. Young Mathayus witnesses the murder of his father, a loyal Black Scorpion guard, by the power-hungry General Sargon. Swearing vengeance, Mathayus joins the Black Scorpions to train as an assassin.
