Originating from the Punjabi and Gujarati traditions, the Sangeet ("to sing") has now become a pan-Indian norm. It is a night of competitive dancing between the bride’s family and the groom’s family. Families spend months choreographing routines to Bollywood songs. It is less about religion and more about breaking the ice between two clans who will soon be related.
