The film follows Lachchi (), a young bride whose husband, Kishan ( Shah Rukh Khan ), leaves her the day after their wedding to pursue business for five years. A ghost (also played by Shah Rukh Khan ) falls in love with Lachchi and takes on Kishan's appearance to live with her.
