Human relationships form the bedrock of social existence, shaping mental health, identity, and community structures. Yet, in an era of rapid technological advancement, shifting cultural norms, and increasing awareness of psychological nuance, the dynamics of how we connect, conflict, and commit are undergoing profound transformation. This paper examines classical and contemporary theories of relationship formation, the impact of digital communication on intimacy, the redefinition of family and friendship, and emergent social topics such as polyamory, loneliness epidemics, and the role of artificial intelligence in social interaction. By synthesizing sociological, psychological, and media studies perspectives, this paper argues that while the core human need for belonging remains constant, the contexts of relationships have become more individualized, technologically mediated, and ideologically diverse than at any previous point in history.
