The Serbaguna (all-purpose) version gained popularity in the 19th and 20th centuries, compiled by Javanese court scholars ( abdi dalem ) from the Surakarta and Yogyakarta palaces. It was written in Javanese script using buku cerita (story book format) and later transliterated into Latin script.
